Spotlight On: Eagle Ford Shale Play

Posted in Oilfield Spotlight

Things are big in Texas, and oil production in the Lone Star state has always been very big. Of course, this applies to the state’s oil shale plays. Named after a neighborhood in Dallas, the Eagle Ford shale play in the southern portion of Texas is currently producing over 600,000 barrels of oil per day as of June, 2013 – and this production is expected to grow enormously in the near future.

According to the University of Texas, the Eagle Ford play supported 116,000 jobs in 2012. The university predicts that an estimated 127,000 jobs and an economic impact of $89 billion will be generated by the play in 2022.
